In his essay, he explains why investing in Africa is now more important than ever – and makes an urgent appeal to entrepreneurs and managers:
“Those who think long term invest now in the continent of opportunity – for the benefit of their own company, but also of Germany and Europe”. It is “incomprehensible that managers and entrepreneurs continue to invest in China despite sharply rising geopolitical risks, while habitually classifying Afric as ‘too risky’. I can only explain this with short-term thinking”.
At the same time, Schoeller appeals to the EU to finally offer Africa’s reforming states fair trade agreements that create incentives for local value creation. In that case, he argues, European investments in Africa would offer huge opportunities for both sides.
