Numerous decision-makers from business and politics are meeting in Nairobi, Kenya to intensify economic cooperation between Germany and Africa.

Organiser of the summit, which takes place every two years and is now being held for the fifth time, is the Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative of German Business (SAFRI). Its aim is to promote and advance economic relations between Europe’s largest economy and one of the world’s fastest-growing regions.

‘GABS is a testament to our commitment to building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships,’ the website states. The summit offers ‘a unique opportunity for dialogue, cooperation and innovation’. Panel discussions are planned on the following topics:

  • Finance in Africa: Opportunities and Requirements
  • Agritech, Agro-processing and Value Addition
  • Energy: Future Prospects – Special Focus on Hydrogen
  • Skills for Africa – Skills for Germany
  • German-African Collaboration in Raw Materials
