January 2024: German-African Agribusiness Forum (Berlin)
The German-African Business Association and the German Agribusiness Alliance invite you to exchange ideas and discuss about the future of agri-food systems in Africa
Even though Africa is still the continent with the largest amount of unused arable land providing vast potentials in agriculture many countries still depend drastically on foreign food imports. To reduce this dependence and to feed its growing population, new technologies, innovative ideas and practices, as well as reliant partnerships can provide accurate responses for African countries.
By exchanging ideas on how to tackle food insecurity, climate change and the loss of biodiversity the organisers want to show how sustainable agribusiness and good agricultural practice can be an important part of the solution to current challenges. Ministers from Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe and several other countries have already confirmed their attendance. Speakers include
· Cem Özdemir (Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Germany)
· Prof. Pius Coxwell Achanga (Vice Chancellor, Mountains of the Moon University, Uganda)
· Dr. Martin Schaefer (Head of Trade & FVC Affairs BASF)
· Hon. Mcebisi Skwatsha (Deputy Minister of Agriculture, South Africa)
· Dr. Babafemi Oyewole (CEO, Pan-African Farmers Organization, Rwanda)
